Antique Caribbean Bottle Pontil Pendant

Antique Caribbean Bottle Pontil Pendant
A fragment of maritime history, shaped by the sea.
This one-of-a-kind pendant is made from the pontil of an antique glass bottle, found ocean-tumbled along the shores of the Lesser Antilles in a striking, vibrant teal.
A pontil is the distinctive scar left on the base of early hand-blown glass. During traditional bottle making, a glassmaker attached a solid iron pontil rod to the bottom of the vessel so the bottle could be held and finished at the mouth. When the rod was broken away, it left behind an irregular mark—a small fingerprint of the centuries-old glassmaking process.
Set in brass and heavily plated in 18K gold, this rare fragment preserves evidence of both the hands that made it and its long journey through the Caribbean Sea. Finished with an 18" 14K gold-filled chain.
